I'll get the ball rolling here. I had a student in a BRC this past weekend who was wearing a brand new hi-viz helmet from Scorpion. It was the first one I had seen and it, along with her black and hi-viz jacket made her really stand out on a very gray weekend. I've done a little checking and found that neither Arai, Shoei or HJC seem to offer this color at this time. Anybody else aware of helmet manufacturers offering a hi-viz option?

| I have seen the Scorpion model you are speaking of and you are correct it really stands out. I know of no others that produce them, but I hope that will change soon. I guess in the world of marketing the bean counters are afraid something that bright just won't sell. My sense is, if the high end manufactures would give it a try they may be pleased with the results. |

| I wanted to buy the Scorpion hi-viz but it just doesn't fit right. HJC fits the best but unfortunately, no hi-viz. Can only hope. |

Not actually fluorescent, but my Shoei RF-1000 is fairly high visibility in yellow. It shows up way better than the average helmet color.

I bought a Hi-Viz Scorpion EXO 700 as soon as they became available. As soon as I got it, I went for a ride to check it out. It is a superb helmet. (Fit is close to Shoei mid-oval). Ten minutes after I got home, my daughter (who lives nearby) came over to tell me about the rider she'd just spotted half a mile away in a Hi-Viz Helmet. She also mentioned that the rest of his gear was just like mine (but she knew it couldn't be 'cos my helmet has a Union Jack on it)... |

This was exactly the same model and color helmet I wore when hitting the deer. It will be the very next helmet I buy when I get back on the horse. |

| Shoei makes some darn good lids. Tex, glad yours did the job it was designed for. |

| Shoei actually made a high vis helmet a few years back. They discontinued it after a few years though. I'm pretty sure it was high vis orange. |

You can probably order high viz in a lot of helmets from your dealer.
A quick google showed what's available:
http://www.compacc.com/b/Shoei.cfm
Personally, I would buy from the dealer if I'm going to find my size there. |

Those look like the standard Shoei colors that have been available for more than ten years (with the possible exception of orange).
The brightest color, yellow (which I own), is just a regular yellow that happens to match the yellow that Ducati paints some bikes. It's not fluorescent like a true High-Viz color would be.
I would buy a High-Viz yellow if it were available. |

Arai is now offering "flourescent yellow." http://www.araiamericas.com/default.../moto/vector Tried to order one today, but they are in back order until July, which is not soon enough for me. Not sure if that is because of demand, or supply. I ended up ordering white.

| I bought the Scorpion Hi-Viz a couple of weeks ago and love it. The fit was perfect for me and it is considerably more quiet than my old lid. I almost bought a white one instead because the hi-viz seemed a bit over the top but purchased it anyway figuring it has to be the most visible helmet on the market today. After reading some reviews on this helmet I was a bit concerned that it might leak but after getting caught in a downpour earlier this week I found that it worked perfectly. |

An update on the Scorpion Hi-Viz helmet that I have been wearing for about 4 months now. I've gotten a lot of comments about how visible this helmet is from both riders and cagers (mostly cagers). The latest comment came from an older lady while I was taking a break & having a snack at a small country store in the middle of nowhere. Is there no better endorsement concerning visibility than from a little old lady in an older model car? |

Topic - Helmets
Hi-Viz looks great, I have two orange Hi-Viz jackets, plus a vest. My leather jacket has great Hi-Viz piping for colder night driving, but I will still but on the vest.
My hemet, although, is white, my next one will be Hi-Viz.
If you can't get the Hi-Viz helmet, make sure you at least have a WHITE one.
I was told that from the beginning (advanced safety training) that it is one of the best helmets to have.
I have had driver's appear to notice the helmet and now with the H-D orange jackets -- I glow! Driver's really seam to notice me -- (most of the time!
There is always something better that comes along, but don't go with anything less than a white helmet.
